This weekend I was back in my homeland, for Sam and Filly's wedding (as I'm sure you gathered.) It was a splendid weekend, and really a lot more than just a good time!

The first day was mainly a mission to remember the long list of things I had to do, and a lot of it was also spent in looking for and forgetting to buy batteries for my camera as I wanted to post some pics. By the time the wedding march had started to play, I had given up, and just decided to relax and enjoy the excellent, if not slightly long winded vows of an english wedding ceremony. Managed to snap a few shots from the day though, when the batteries I did have decided that they were not entirely flat.

The bride was sublime, the bridesmaids duely inferior in appearance, the aunt tried to cry and the groom was literally transformed by happiness.

(Just have to note that the above is a quote, and I couldnt possibly take any credit for its brilliance.)

Its strange but every time I return to England, and am flying over our patchwork quilt of a country, green and beautiful, speckled with spider webs of light, I get such a happy feeling and I know I'm home and start to feel quite patriotic again. Then I get out and its raining!

Seriously though, on the way to Taunton this weekend, I realised the beauty of our roads. So many cars creating a river of traffic snaking through the rolling countryside. The word me an Dorit decided summed up England in a nutshell is 'colourful'! Truly though, from the heart of my bottom, I do love England. It may be rough and ugly and quite imperfect but I still love it. And I love the friends within it. Filly said this weekend that she felt that everyone in England was her friend, and that is exactly how I feel too. And that really is an encouraging thought!

(Sorry, quoting again.)
